Two Detentions Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault resulted in the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be pepper spray, as stated by law enforcement.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests follow a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the injured during the incident. Five people went to hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Police arrested a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were called at about 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals hurt by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility for a short time.
