Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Soldiers Group

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, demons, and dark forces growing in influence within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Warrior Group Revealed

The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.

Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.

Initially, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might seem out of place, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the group knows exactly where to go next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.

The traitor then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks revenge.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a hostile place.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the party enter areas they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This results in them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in search of the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Questers and Planners parties.

Fans can look forward to finding out which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
