19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hardcourt
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.
Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a difficult season, winning just one win at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.
Currently training with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks his initial championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface from that period of 2023.
Success also indicates the Russian has won 21 championships at 21 different events.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is particularly special," commented world number 14 Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.
The player's retrieving strategy and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted observers to question if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.
However the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and compete positively, supported by an improved service.
Medvedev recovered from a break down in the opening set against the tricky opponent, winning four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.
The competitors traded break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to create a decider.
The opponent rescued four early opportunities in a tight deciding set before the Russian broke to 15 to close out the victory.
Suitably, the winner clinched the win with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman failing to control a volley after a lengthy match.
